First up if you do nothing else this weekend - CLICK HERE to see the best web video I've seen in a long time - It's JOURNEY (with Steve Perry) AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH...

Also...

Congrats to Andy Smith of Pickertington - Winner of the Brew's Ultimate Block Party with Poison...

Here's Andy's winning entry...

Hands down this is no competition at all! We have attended every Poison concert that has come through Columbus, and we are ready to promote our party habbits with your concert give-away!!  I represent the 20 hard rocking, head banging, hair band enthusiasts that will show You and the Brew family what it takes to rock out at this concert. We are all firefighters in Violet Township and every day when we aren't fighting fires or saving lives we crank up the Brew to give us the energy to do our jobs. If anyone else listens to any other radio station at work, they are just suit wearing pansies that dont appreciate the best decade of rock and roll that the 80's and your music you have to offer. If there is a party you are going to host there is no better combination than rock, brew, and firefighters.  We don't know how to party lightly and every one of the 20 members that would be in attendance grew up in the 80's and know no better concert to let you guys experience our mayhem.  So we will be waiting for the official call we won, our bags are packed and we are ready for a night that will never be duplicated by any other group of hair band addicts!!

Andy Smith

Violet Township Fire

Also have to share this great "runner-up" e-mail from Ryan...  Something tells me he'll enjoy Sunday's show more than I will....

Redman,
Are you ready the Cougar-fest Sunday night?   We are.
(See attached photo from Brew Blast 2007 tailgate)(Note:  Trans Am not included)

My friends and I should get the block of Poison tickets.   Here's why.
We are the spirited young guns ready to enter the lair at another 80s hair band concert.  Braving the dangerous jungle of teased hair and mullets, and entering the domain of fallen angels and stone-washed jeans, we will again be happily reunited with the dangerous Cougar species on Sunday night.
I challenge you to find another set of these Cougar jerseys in Columbus ... and another group of prey as ready as we are for the thrill of the hunt.
I'm betting you can't.   And that's why we deserve to get the tickets.

Couple of fun videos to share...

Name or nickname—
Jana in Gahanna

-
Where and when did you see your first concert?  Bon Jovi, Cinderella, & Smithereens—Buckeye Lake, Summer of ’87 (or was it ’86?—my memory is fading as I age…)

-         Where and when did you see your favorite concert?  Bon Jovi & Goo Goo Dolls—Nationwide Arena, Feb. blizzard of ’03.  I was 5 months pregnant, but “Level 4 snow emergency” means NOTHING to a pregnant chick driving an hour to attend the concert she “camped out” for to get row 9 tickets!    Thanks be to God for Subaru, and for my husband who knew better than to argue with me!  J

-         What band do you make your kids listen to the most in the car?  Jovi, and he sings along!  Warms a mother’s heart, I tell ya!

-         What is your favorite 80’s movie?  It’s a tie—Big, Three Men and a Baby

-         Describe a celebrity encounter that you have had in the past.  If you have never met a celebrity then please tell me what celebrity you would like to meet the most and why?  When PromoWest was still PromoWest, they held a CART town meeting there, with Bobby Rahal, Mario Andretti, Derek Daly, etc.  Being a forever open-wheel and Andretti fan, I have met Mario and Michael in the past, but THIS time, Mario gave me a kiss on the left cheek.  I didn’t want to wash my face ever again!  J

-         What was the best thing about the 80’s?  I was young, skinny, and “cool.”  And, I had no responsibilities except for my summer job.

-         What is the best song ever?  Don’t Lie to Me—Dokken.  Although Rock Me by Great White and Rock You Like a Hurricane by the Scorpions are a VERY close second and third!

-         What is one CD/Album that you are embarrassed to own?  Richard Marx, but it’s neither a CD nor an album—I’ve got a cassette, baby.

-         Do you have a personal website or Myspace page?  If so post a link HERE!  http://www.myspace.com/jovijana

-         Where do you listen to The Brew the most?  Everywhere, except at work because it won’t come in on the radios, and we’re not allowed to listen online.

-         What do you like best about The Brew?  I fell in love with The Brew back when it first took the airwaves  I love Red, Dave, & Raff too, and the fact that they don’t have commercials for adult businesses—I can ALWAYS listen to The Brew when my kid’s around!  J

-         Any additional comments that you will like to make?  First of all, there is NO such album as OU-eight-twelve!  Secondly, if you happen to see me in my car, I’m not cussing you out—I’m singing!  Well, unless you’ve turned left in front of me.  J  Peace out.  Rock on!
